The Use Of Scent

This topic has come up allot lately. What I am going to tell you is based on personal experiences while trolling and regular fishing through out my fishing career.

It started about ten years ago when I was introduced to a small bottle of orange color Crayfish scent S-J called Crawdaddy. It was made by a company that I've never heard of before called Smelly Jelly. We were in the process of filming a Smallmouth Bass TV show on Lake Ontario with a Bass Pro and he started a segment on rigging when he pulled this bottle out. I looked at it and chuckled a bit due to its funny name. "Smelly Jelly" I said, and he looked at me and replied if you use it, you will never be the same again.

To make a long story short we went on that day catching about 70 Smallmouth Bass between 3 of us and YES, I was never the same again!

I was the BIGGEST doughtier of scents ever and always thought they were a gimmick. After that day we did some testing where one of us would use the same lure and fish with it, and one without it, and the results we got were no shorter than amazing.

Since then, I have met many people that uses the Smelly Jelly scents with great results. I can truly say while Chartering on Lake Ontario, I do not use any other scents on my lures other than Smelly Jelly! It is #1.

The #1 scent is Smelly Jelly: Anchovy Salt/Glitter(also available in UV)!

Smelly Jelly Scents are among the most popular fish attractants on the market today. Smelly Jelly has taken the essence of each forage species and concentrated it before mixing it in a jelly base. The jelly will stick to whatever you apply it to and stay there longer. The Pro Guide Formula comes in large, four-ounce jars specifically for anglers who spend a lot of time on the water. You can use Smelly Jelly to mask your scent after handling lures and as an attractant to bring fish to the bait. When they bite, the natural flavor will make them hold on longer. The Pro Guide Formula scents work for all game fish, try one the next time you tie on a lure.

I also use the Herring, Smelt, Alewife and Baitfish. The Alewife scent is my second best.

I do use a host of their other scents when I am fishing other species in different locations.

Most professional anglers and charter captains are also using Smelly Jelly with the same results as me. It helps mask human odor and also represents the target food the fish are feeding on. It is a feeding stimulant.

There are many other good scent company's out there, as I have tried Mike's gel scents and even Dr. Juice but Smelly Jelly scents are buy far their superior!

If you see me on the water ask me about Smelly Jelly!

You to, will never be the same!

Good luck and Tight Lines!
