Just heard from one boat went 21 for 23 on Lakers, Kings and Steelies.... Lots of nice sized Lakers, too bad they couldn't keep any of them. Everything they took was on 75 copper, full core and 1/2 core. 150-180' straight out... Top half of water. Fish are still out there just need to try for them!

South Haven 09/11/09PM Went 8 for 13 last night between 4:30 and 9:30. 7 Kings & 1 Steelhead. Not sure about the 13 number, I know we lost several fish (too many). It was a real fire drill last night. Had a few doubles and had a hard time keeping the glow stuff in the water once the sun went down. Even executed a “Crazy Ivan” turn (Hunt for Red October reference) trying to get a big Steelhead that came unbuttoned at the boat and was floating on the top of the water. (he decided he was not exactly dead after all and took off when we got there). Set lines around 90ft and trolled west out to 120. No luck until we turned south, then the action was steady until around 8:30. Should have pulled lines then, but the lure of that hot action kept us out for another hour without any more fish. Most fish were caught between 90 to 110 ft of water. Not sure exactly what we caught each fish on either (I did not have time to keep up the log book), but we did catch fish on all of the following: • Blue bubble spin doctor/matching fly on a #3 Dipsey Diver set back 180. • Carmel Dolphin Spin Doctor/Seaweed fly on a full core • Red/white/black ladder back J plug on a half core • SWR downrigger with a big white/glow tape e-chip dodger/mirage fly (65 to 75 ft down) • Glow George spoon and Moonshine TNT spoon (riggers and Dipsey Divers) Wound up half way down to St. Joe and had a long boat ride back. It was a late night.

Perch has been off and on all week, guys are going out - getting there limit, while others are touch and go with limits. Perch are there - it's just a matter of finding them and being patient. South has been producing better than the North.

Went out last night from 7:30pm - 9:30pm ended with 4 for 6 all came on Flies and Spinnies, marked a lot of fish from 70-90 but began hooking up from 100-120 fish phased out at 140. 40-60 down was where they were running with a band around 100.

o.k. chico Gr. the porthole report is the same. kings in the pier and around it... how far out did you go to get the kings? the report is the same as it was the last week. we trolled the pier head and didnt mark nothing so how far did you go out and how does this coincide with the fishing report from pyles. if you are a bait shop or if you are posting a fishing report than it should be accurate. i am heading out again this weekend and i will troll around the pier. i have good equipment and i am capable. so then if i dont have anyting on around the pier than the report from pyles shows me that it is not accurate. neal winger

nealwinger, answer is to stop in & see adam at pyles on your way out. they don't update their website everyday even though it is the best website on the lakeshore. we were blanked thursday fishing same area as monday when we went 4-6. stopped in to see adam friday morning, 3 on in first 25 minutes on our way to a 5-10 day.

Pyle's is right on. The fish aren't thick in the river but they are there. My wife and I have two kings each including a 15# and and 18# (hers is the 18). This is over the last week so it should get even better from there.

i cannot figure this out. the pyles report says the kings are in the breakwall and in the river. we went out to 85 without luck on the labor day weekend. no takers at all. we ran four downriggers. and from what i am reading that the downriggers were primarily responsible for the kings that were taken... we were marking about 53 down and nothing . any suggestions.

Put in a long Labor Day on the big lake. Started out @ 6:30AM and fished until 2:30-3:00PM. Wound up 7 for 8. Started out in 80ft of water straight out from the pier and worked our way southwest out to 120 ft and back with 96 ft of water +/- 10 ft being the best depth after the sun came up. The glow program finally worked for us on Monday, but with only two guys on the boat I had a hard time keeping more than 1 line in the water for the first 45 minutes. Really tempted the fishing gods by tossing the first two fish back (two small, but legal Kings) & kept a Laker. Glow George & Moonshine TNT took all three fish off of the SWR down riggers set at 65 & 75 ft. No more bites until around 10:30 (more than likely punishment for tossing the first two fish back) then we had a fish hit every 30 - 45 minutes. Blue Bubble Spin Doctor & Matching Fly on a #3 Dipsey Diver set back 180ft took two fish (both Kings). ½ core with a Red & Silver with a Black Ladderback J-Plug is still swimming around Lake Michigan with a real nice Steelhead lost at the back of the boat. White E-chip Dodger with a Mirage Fly on SWR downrigger @ 65ft took another Laker. Full core with the Carmel Dolphin Spin Doctor & Seaweed Fly took another King.
