Hi there, I am looking for a german baker to make a maple walnut cake. I See you are closed now, but perhaps know of someone who can? Or perhaps are willing to share the recipe? Thanks!

I should have asked this question years ago. My family has been staying at Riedlbauer's for as long as you were open! My mom, Johanna Franzen has a godmother named Hartmann. I wonder if there was a connection? Thank you.

Do you have any plans to write down and sell your recipes? I have tried in vain to recreate your Bavarian Peach, Mocca, and Walnut cakes for my mother. She used to visit your bakery at least once a year for her dose of a-taste-of-home, and your cakes were a part of every family birthday, wedding, and funeral for years. I would love to be able to bring her this joy again before I lose her (she's 89 years old).

Our annual sojourn to Lake Taghkanic isn't complete without at least to visits to the your wonderful haus. Your furst puckler cake will be sorely missed. So I'll just say thanks for the memories, best of luck and most of all thank you for teaching me the proper pronunciation of schwarzwälder kirschtorte. Hopefully there's a baking book in your future. I know at least one amateur baker who'd buy one. ;-)

KaffeeHartman was a big part of my life growing up as we spent the end of summer weekends up at round top. always fun driving on the roller coaster road and having delicious desserts.

What a shame to learn you have closed... You've been the main reason for me to cross the border! The good-old-European oasis in the Fastfoodland... and your Black Forest tasted greater than ones I've tried when visiting Schwarzwald. Stay safe and well! Thank you for everything. Jacob, Montreal QC

Hartmann's Kaffeehaus on Heart's Content Rd. was a special place. The European cakes / tortes were THE BEST! They looked so perfect and, amazingly, tasted perfect. Really. These women were among the most talented and hardworking bakers in the U.S., without doubt. To make their desserts SO delectable and _without fail_! Your efforts were appreciated. The atmosphere, charming building and lunch food were almost as fun and good as your cakes, dear Hartmann's! I grew up going to Hartmann's -- making that drive from Conn. THANK YOU very much for SWEET MEMORIES and enriching lives! ♥♥♥♥

Sorry to hear you are closed. I have been coming to Round Top and your store since 1959. The summers of '68 & '69 I worked at Glen Brook Farm. Brought my wife there years later and she loved your Bee Sting. Thank you for the wonderful food and memories. Mike

Hi Diane, Like many others, I miss your restaurant. It was a place I frequently visited with my dad and then my fiancé (who is now my husband). I was just wondering if there are any plans to come out with a cook book? I'm most interested in the Vienna coffee, Linzer tart, and frenchipan tart.

So sorry to hear of your closing! I spent summers at the Glens Falls House since the 60's up until Richie Sulger sold the property and visited Hartmann's all those years too. The finest German pastries around! Thank you for all the years you gave us wonderful pastries - you were all so pleasant and greeted us with smiles. Best of health and goodness-! Sincerely, Lisa

Hi! I don't know if anyone manages this page anymore but my heart broke to pieces when I heard that you were closing. Is there any chance you'd be interested in trying to compile a recipe book that maybe folks who miss the place a lot could buy on here? I'm a Cairo local living in Raleigh NC. If you want to reach out I've got some ideas that I think could be awesome. (In truth, I want that recipe for the Nussecken cookies most of all!) Be well, be safe. Know you are in our thoughts and in our fondest memories.

So sorry to hear you have closed. I grew up in Cairo and spent many a summer (70's) living in Whip-o-Will campground. We would come down to your place during the summer and I would always have a piece of your Black Forest Cake. I left to go to college and haven't been back since. I always swore when did make it back to go by and have another piece of your cake. Living in Alaska means that's going to be awhile. Any chance you could share the recipe? If so I would appreciate it. Thank you for the memories. Jeff

I am so sorry to hear that you closed. My mother is German and she loved the Furst Puckler cake that we bought from you. Her 90th birthday is coming at the end of March and we’re trying to locate a bakery that prepares the Furst Puckler cake as authentically as you did. If anyone knows some place that still makes them I’d appreciate the information. I’m on Long Island but we’re willing to travel to another state in the North East to get one.

So sorry to hear that you have closed; you have been part of my family for years and years. My earliest memories are of The Woodlands resort where I stayed for two weeks every summer with my family as a small child and all the way to my early teens. We often walked up the hill to Hartmann's to enjoy your delicious cakes and pastries. We were always certain to take something home to prolong our wonderful visit in the Catskills. You will be sorely missed. Patricia & Family

You are sorely missed by myself and the whole family thI know this is a long shot but I’m wondering if you would be willing to share your Fürst Pückler recipe with me. My annual favorite for more years than I can remember. Vielen Dank.

When my wife's grandfather, an oldtimer and baker originally from Germany, passed away we had no source for our favorite German Butter Cake....until we found Hartmann's. This was over 20 years ago and now they've closed. Such a shame, but good luck in your retirement.

Been going to Hartman's since 1978. Stayed with the Glenbrook Farm hosts. Skipped lunch many times to have lunch and dessert at Hartman's. My wife Harriet loved the black forest cake and the wonderful sandwiches (home made breads). My daughter and son-in-law kept up the tradition for many years .... my hope is that someone will buy the property and continue to serve the guests at holiday time. Thank you so much for the wonderful experiences. Much happiness to you and your lovely staff. Gabe Falsetta
