Miss Tina is originally from New Jersey were she started dancing at the age of 3; studying ballet, jazz, and tap with local dance studios from Miss Pats Dance Academy to Jazz Unlimited Studios in NJ. She also performed in various productions of the Nutcracker around the tri state area and was a solo principal dancer with her company in concert performances. Her love of dance at an early age began her studies in dance, fitness, and performing arts and lead into her studies of modern (Graham technique), classical ballet and later pointe. In high school as she continued studying and performing in ballets such as Gisele and Swan Lake with the New Jersey Performing Arts Studio, she also started choreographing her high schools’ musical theatre departments’ performances of Grease, West Side Story, and Guys and Dolls.
Upon entering the University of the Arts in Philadelphia she concentrated her studies in jazz, hip hop, and contemporary with modern influences from Horton and Limon techniques. After receiving her degree in 1994, Miss Tina started working with Extensions Dance Company in New Jersey along with teaching at several local dance studios, including Core Academy of Movement, and Dansations Dance Company. Her love of teaching and choreography grew and, after moving to Virginia in 2008, she focused on teaching dance and choreography at a competitive level for studios including MFA studios in Fredericksburg and Headliners Dance Company in Hanover. She won awards consistently for her choreography at competitions like StarQuest, Hall of Fame and Showstoppers. She has worked and choreographed award winning pieces for groups in hip hop, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and ballet. Her groups and soloists have gone on to win national titles with her choreographed pieces. She also shared her
knowledge and love of dance at local non-profit organizations like Grace Arts. She worked with underprivileged children in impoverished areas that normally would not get a fine arts education. She continues to further her knowledge and continue her education by attending classes at New York’s Broadway Dance Studio and attending conferences like Twinkle Toes and American Ballet Theatre workshops. Miss Tina is also a prominent figure in the fitness industry, holding certifications in yoga, pilates, ballet/ballet barre, group fitness, and level 2 reiki.
