I once read on foursquare 'Take a class with Tina and she will change your life'. It's true.
I've always been a gym rat but I was getting bored with the same routine so one day I decided to take Ultimate Conditioning with Tina Thompson. I didn't know what to expect so it was kinda scary. I made sure I was allllll the way in the back of the class...hopefully Tina will not notice the new chick in the back. Boy, was I wrong! She called me out not too long after lol.
The music is fast and furious just like Tina's work outs. The class starts out with stretching then we immediately go into cardio...intense cardio. Tina combines plyometrics, strength, conditioning and dance choreography. Expect a lot of running in place, squats, jumps, jump squats, lunges, kicks, jumping jacks with the body bar or weights and dance choreography. Expect repetition, A LOT of it.
In the moments when we are repeating the moves over and over and my sweat is flying everywhere I go into some kind of crazy fitness trance.
I have been working out for several years however after I started taking Tina's classes I noticed a significant difference in my body. I am more toned, especially my legs and arms and my endurance is at the best that its ever been. By the end of class I feel like I lost a ton of weight, not just physically but also mentally. I leave Tina's class de-stressed from the week. This is my kind of therapy!
Tina's class is not for the weak heart-ed. Tina will call you out just like a great coach will.
Simply, life changing. I honestly was super hesitant about attending any kind of fitness camp/gym and considered myself healthy and fit... boy was I surprised. My mind and body were pushed in ways I didn't think were possible and I walked away from the experience refreshed (and sore!) along with a renewed outlook on my personal fitness, the empowerment and encouragement I needed to meet my fitness and personal goals and a mentor I never expected to find. Tin Thompson is a triumphant expert in her field who will push you to your limits and build you up along the way. If you attend, get ready to shed lots of sweat, negative energy and walk away feeling like you can take on the world. I've been eternally thankful to Tina for pushing me and helping me realize what I am truly capable of.
Fit Camp was a special experience I hope to repeat yearly! I left firmer, stronger with a new view on health! Tina is the most supportive instructor (cum life coach at times) I have ever encountered. Throughout interval training and dance fitness, she was also giving guidance for life. Her energy permeates the fitness camp and the energy of fellow students Quite Supportive!! Planning on going to many other fitness camps in the future!!
Tina Thompson's Fit Camp is a life-changing experience. It not only tests you physically, but also emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Mrs. Thompson has a unique, holistic approach to working out, encompassing mind, body, and spirit--the only path to true fitness. She welcomes all shapes, sizes, exercise backgrounds (or lack thereof), and ensures nobody feels out of place. Attending her camp, you quickly are made to feel like you're part of a big family. I hope that this email finds you well. As a reminder, I'm from your Thursday cardio class First and foremost, I want to tell you how much of an inspiration and positive influence you have been for me since joining Crunch. From the very first workout, I have had a feeling that you will have a very strong impact on me. In the past, I have had problems remaining consistent with the gym. As a former high school & college athlete (soccer, basketball and lacrosse), I found the gym to get boring even after a couple of weeks. When I'm in your class, I don't feel like I'm at the "gym". I honestly feel like I'm just in a room, doing something wonderful for myself, in the company of really amazing people. I actually LOOK FORWARD to your class on Thursdays. I want to thank you for changing my mindset about physical well-being. I know that I still have a ways to go before reaching all of my goals, but I am so grateful that you have given me the foundation to help steer me in the right direction. I truly think that meeting you has been life-changing.

What is The 'HealthLift Boot Camp' Workout?
Lead by Tina Thompson AKA "Sergeant Diva" the (BCFW) Boot camp fierce workouts are efficient because you work your entire body-- heart and muscles--by going from one exercise to another with no rest. The workouts involve calisthenics like pushups, jumping jacks, crunches and other body weight exercises...the difference lies in the intensity. In boot camp, your challenge is to take your body to its limit. You work, you sweat and, best of all, you burn calories like crazy.

My thoughts on Fit Camp: JUST WHAT I NEEDED.
I had such a great time this weekend. I looked at the price tag before going, and was a little weary, but something told me it would all be worth it, and it was. It turned out to be a mental and physical release, and a great bonding experience. I thought a lot over the weekend - a lot of things are going on, and when I said "betrayal" on the bus survey, it's because that has been a feeling I've experienced a lot these days unfortunately - but sweating, working hard, laughing, and focusing on something else has put me at peace. And we had the perfect balance of work and "enjoying the amenities" which was so important. Also, the nutrition talk was great. Glad we had that discussion.
It was fun getting to know other people on the trip. I see Rose and Connie every Friday I am at Crowne, but I knew nothing about them. But after the morning walks, sharing meals, and horseback riding with Rose, I feel closer to them. I didn't have any sort of huge discussion with either of them, sometimes you dont need words to get closer to people, just experiences. And Z - after the classes on Friday, I relaized, she is the girl I see every time I am Crowne, staking out her corner of the studio while we rehearse! Now she is not just that girl I have to avoid bumping into while I am dancing, lol.
There really wouldn't be anything I'd change for the next time. One thing I'd like to be added to the agenda next time is a hike. I was really looking forward to hiking sometime over the weekend, that would have been awesome. I would keep the group the same size we were, even if that meant putting people on a wait list. Oh, maybe some more meditation could be added. The Yoga sessions were awesome and really realxing so maybe we could throw some meditation in there too.
And the food.....SOOOOO GOOOD. I haven't eaten like that in awhile, and now that I took my oath, I won't be stuffing my face with a second plate for a long time....lol.
