There’s that magical feeling in the air that accompanies the annual arrival of the holiday season. Thanksgiving has come and gone, and now for those affiliated with the Michigan Wrestling Organization, all attention is set solely on Christmas Clash, the 25th anniversary of the holiday supercard that overtakes the gym of Flint’s Richfield Road Church on Sunday, December 8.
From top to bottom, the announced matches for the 2019 Clash provides as stacked of a card as any in recent history. Two main events will headline this show as well as other blockbuster bouts that could easily headline any episode of MWO Championship Wrestling on the MWO Network. One of the things my fans always look forward to are my predictions for a major annual supercard. My level of insight and accuracy is second to none, although I must admit sometimes my crystal ball is a little cloudy at times. But, more often than not, you can take my predictions to the bank. With that being said, here is my take on this Sunday’s Christmas Clash:

MWO CHAMPION JEREMIAH J. HUGHES vs. TYSON DEAN
MWO Championship Title Match

The fact that Tyson Dean is in this spot is nothing short of a Christmas miracle in of itself. He’s talented, yes. He’s a bona fide superstar, yes. But let’s be honest, he lacks the experience needed if he has any chance of taking the Michigan Wrestling Organization title from “The Archduke.” Jeremiah J. Hughes is the best in the MWO. Even if he didn’t have possession of the belt, he would still be the best in my opinion. And with Jordan J. Scavone calling the shots for Hughes, he is as favored to retain the heavyweight crown as any defending champ as anyone. Hughes can do it all and while Tyson will no doubt give everything he’s got, it won’t be enough to knock the king off his throne. WINNER: Jeremiah J. Hughes

OLD SCHOOL RIC CAURDIEA vs. JASON “THE BASHER” CLOUSE
Steel Cage “I Quit” Match

The Clouse/Caurdiea rivalry will end where it began…within the confines of a steel cage. This match should close out the event, because the ramifications of the stipulation is as definitive as any stipulation offered by the MWO. Ric Caurdiea has had a rough few weeks leading up to Christmas Clash, with the unfortunate passing of his father. And while that could elevate “Old School’s” game heading into this marquee showdown, Clouse is an entirely different animal when competing in the cage. And the organization CEO has a lot to prove that he can still hang with the upper echelon of MWO stars. I think that it will take one mistake, just one, by Caurdiea that will spell his fate in this match, one with the Basher’s hand raised in the end. WINNER: Jason Clouse

TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS THE EPIDEMIC vs. BLACKWELL & CODY LEEDY
2/3 Fall Reindeer Games Match for MWO Tag Team Titles

The Epidemic (Loco & DJ Edwards) have a lot of pressure on their shoulders heading into this very important title defense against Pope-n-Friends. However, their chances of success may have improved a little when CEO Jason “the Basher” Clouse added a unique stipulation to this match. Blackwell & Leedy are determined to regain the titles, but The Epidemic will likely be the tandem that benefits most from the Reindeer Games concept, where every fall will have a different stipulation. But with Clouse watching intently on his team’s efforts, I wouldn’t want to be them if they were to lose the straps. WINNERS: The Epidemic

GREAT LAKES CHAMPION ROBERTO CRUZ vs. MIGHTY BOJACK
vs. ADRIAN ANDERSON
Triple Threat Match for MWO Great Lakes Title

This could be the sleeper match of the card, the bout that steals the show. There’s an interesting dynamic about this match. Cruz and the Mighty Bojack are partners in The Takeover camp. They’ll tell you that there’s no riffs between them but when a championship hangs in the balance, it tends to change their outlooks on a match. Not even the brilliance of Jordan J. Scavone can keep Bojack and the defending Great Lakes champion on the same page. It will be this one distraction that will lead to the crowning of a new champion. Adrian Anderson, in his first solo title opportunity in a long time, is one of the MWO’s most powerful superstars. And capitalixzing on his chance, “Big A” is the odds on favorite to leave Christmas Clash with the championship. WINNER: Adrian Anderson

CREATURE FEATURE JOHN CAMPBELL vs. THE BRUISER BUTCH REICHEL
On paper, John Campbell should be the odds on favorite to score an all-important victory over his opponent at Christmas Clash. However, its been a long time since the Creature Feature has taken on an adversary like “The Brusier.” Sure, Butch Reichel may be a newcomer to Michigan Wrestling Organization fans, but in reality, Reichel has been a dominating force in other promotions before venturing to the MWO. Reichel has wasted little time in making a name for himself with an impressive showing over the Blue Marvel and then raised more than a few eyebrows when he targeted Campbell. The Creature Feature is once again facing a lull in his MWO career and desperately needs a win here. But so too does Reichel in order to maintain his momentum. WINNER: Butch Reichel

ALEX CROW vs. DIRE WOLF COREY KERR
Poor Alex Crow. He forms a group, enlists the services of guys he thinks will help propel him to the MWO Championship, only to have those same guys nearly end his career. Crow’s path to revenge against CEO Jason “the Basher” Clouse will likely have to go through members of The Show—components of Crow’s former Scum of the Earth faction. However, Crow’s first stop will be Christmas Clash when he goes one on one with the Dire Wolf. Crow has newfound fan support but all the cheering in the world won’t help Alex overcome the onslaught of Kerr, who I’m sure has been given his marching orders from the CEO to keep Crow from advancing a step closer to a match with the Basher. Kerr is strong and is hungry and has the advantage over Crow. WINNER: Corey Kerr
