How The Basher Did On His First Day As CEO

The Michigan Wrestling Organization ushered in a new era on September 30 when the promotion opened the doors to the MWO Studio, the organization’s new home venue, to its loyal base. And it was clear from the start of the show, there is a renewed excitement for the MWO.
The MWO Wrestling Live: New Era Rising show was the first live event since Jason “the Basher” Clouse was announced as the Chief Executive Officer and public figurehead of the promotion. The long-time superstar with the organization received mostly positive reviews on his first show on the job, making several big announcements during the course of the event, including making a triple threat match to determine a top contender to Bam Grizzlee’s MWO Great Lakes championship, the formation of the 8-man tag team elimination that will take place at Trick-or-Slam, and making a dream match main event for the next event at the MWO Studio on October 21.
“All in all, he did a fairly decent job with some of the announcements he made.” Said columnist Wildman Williams, “But that was day one. We’ll see how he follows up the next few events.”
Ric Caurdiea’s successful defense of his MWO Championship title against a determined Roberto Cruz headlined the inaugural public event at the MWO Studio. Cruz came very close to ending “Old School’s” title reign, but the champion was able to rebound and pick up the win. Caurdiea’s focus now shifts to Trick-or-Slam, where he will defend the title against the Superstar Alex Crow in the supercard’s main event. Crow was ringside adding commentary to the Caurdiea-Cruz match and to perhaps scout his upcoming opponent.
“I think Clouse’s biggest piece of business came when The Commission made their MWO debuts,” Williams added, “This is an impressive tag team and they had a tremendous showing against Hoss Fight.”
With the conclusion of the first public event at the MWO Studio, the focus is now on the next outing at the MWO’s home venue, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 21. That particular event is being highlighted by the first one-on-one match between the Creature Feature John Campbell and organization legend Skullz.

Even after Positive Promotions dissolved with the departure of manager Sheldon Positive, the group’s foundation of JJ Hughes and Roberto Cruz demonstrated that they are still running mates in the Michigan Wrestling Organization. Cruz and the “Main Attraction” disrupted a triple threat match that Hughes was involved in with Jacob Brawn and the Package Andrew Steele. The Package looked as if he was on the verge of winning the match and a shot at the Great Lakes title at Trick-or-Slam when Cruz stormed the ring and joined Hughes in an attack on Steele. Shockingly, Hughes and Cruz turned their attention to Brawn and proceeded to beat down the former MWO Champion. The assault was halted when MWO CEO Jason “the Basher” Clouse made a tag team match for the 10/21 event at MWO Studio, pitting Brawn and the Package against Hughes and Cruz.

The Commission—one of the most talented and imposing tag teams in the independent wrestling scene—has made their way to the Michigan Wrestling Organization. And they have wasted little time in seeking out the best competition in the tag team division. Lexx Vegas and JaXon Kade spoiled the organization return of Hoss Fight—Adrian Anderson & Fat Tony—with a hard fought match that The Commission won via disqualification. But their presence in the MWO has immediately changed the landscape of the tag team division.

The conflict between MWO Tag Team champions Jack Teryn & Pure Fury Jeff Clouse and THEE Cody Leedy & Blackwell was on full display when the two tandems paired off into singles matches. PF and Blackwell kicked off the September 30 event at the MWO Studio. And it was a strong showing by Blackwell that led him to a win over Clouse and a huge momentum boost for the top-ranked contenders to the MWO Tag Team titles. However, later the momentum shifted back to the Disciples of Darkness when Teryn picked up an impressive win over THEE Cody Leedy. The two teams will be on opposing sides in singles matches again on October 21 when PF-Leedy and Blackwell-Teryn matches will be contested just a week before the epic 8-man tag team elimination match at Trick-or-Slam.
