Outlaw Sportsmen

The Outlaw Sportsman was the next division to hit the speedway. Todd Warren and Kevin Kephart entered the feature so close in points that whoever finished in front of the other would be the 2013 champion. Warren and Kephart started the feature side by side in the second row. Dean Wendell took the lead from his front row starting spot and wasn’t challenged as he cruised to the win. Kephart got ahead of Warren as things shook out with Kephart moving into second place and Warren in third place. Warren gave his best effort but wasn’t able to mount a challenge and had to settle for third in the race and second in the season’s point’s race. “’Rabid “Rob Mcrae was fourth in the feature and Geoff Rollins was fifth.

B&L Used Auto Parts Thunder Lights

The B&L Used Auto Parts Thunder Lights were up next on the Hudson high banks. Kim Dombroski started on the pole and led every lap as she won the first race of her career. It was no easy task for Dombroski as she had to run flawlessly as the field was never more than a few car lengths behind. Mikayla Lord was second followed by Kris Schroeder, Mikayla Duval, and Max Chaput. Kris Schroeder drove his “A Family Cab” sponsored Cavalier to the B&L Used Auto Parts Thunder Light championship. Schroeder won over half of the Thunder Light features with a win total of 11.

The Roadrunner main was all about Billy Osboune. Jarrod Soucy was 55 points behind coming into the day and with double points on the line he had a chance to win the championship. Osboune started his Schroeder and Sons Auto Repair VW in the 14th spot and passed 6 cars in turn one on the first lap and was soon leading. Osboune was soon joined at the front by Soucy and Matt Giffen. The top trio battled hard but Osboune prevailed. Ricky Fissette made a late race charge and finished second. Giffen was third followed by Soucy and Jen Lord.

Rookie Stock

The Rookie Stocks had a great point’s battle coming into the day with Tanguay, Sr. leading Chad Wendell by a mere 17 points. A wreck on lap one of the heat that included Wendell took him out of the heat and Tanguay finished second in the heat to increase his lead to 33 points. Wendell’s crew did the best they could to get Wendell’s banged-up car out for the feature but he was only able to manage a seventh place finish so Tanguay. won the championship. The 55 year old Tanguay, Sr. just started racing in 2011 and with his son Roger Tanguay, Jr. as his crew chief spent the last three seasons improving his driving skills and improving the handling and speed on his Top Donut sponsored Camaro. This season he had a 150 point lead in August but the handling on his car went away and was pure evil. Tanguay, Sr. was losing points and lots of them for six weeks until, with help from Tewksbury Welding, Aiken St. Auto and B&L Auto Parts, they got it straightened out just in time to save his season.

Flagpole Race

Buddy Wilkins won the Flagpole Race.

4-Cylinder Enduro

Josh Adie won the Four Cylinder Enduro.

Hudson Speedway swung open its gates for its 66th consecutive season on Sunday May 19th.

Thunder Lights

McKayla Lord

Max Chaput led the Thunder Lights to flagman Steve Gran’s first green flag for feature racing of the year. McKayla Lord quickly moved up from her third row starting spot and never looked back to take the feature win. Kris Schroeder made his way up from his last starting spot to get to Lord’s bumper as the laps wound down but wasn’t able to mount a challenge as Lord joined her dad, uncles, sister and cousin as a Hudson Speedway feature winner. Schroeder finished second followed by Chaput and Jarrod Howard. Lord won the heat.

Rookie Stocks

Last turn of Rookie feature Aberle trading fenders with Scotty Duval for the lead

Kevin Aberle jumped to the lead in the Rookie Stock feature early in the race from his third row starting spot. Aberle built up a lead over second place runner Scotty Duval in the first half of the feature. Duval cut into Aberle’s lead quickly in the second half of the race and was on his bumper for most of the last half of the feature. With Duval on Aberle’s bumper going into turn three on the last lap Aberle slipped up the track a bit and Duval jumped on the chance to get aside of him. The top two traded fenders in the final corners and coming off turn four Duval was driving towards the finish line in the dirt at the bottom of the track and Aberle was regaining control and charging towards the line on the asphalt. In a near dead heat the word came down from the race control tower that Duval crossed the line first. Duval had issues in post race inspections that relegated him to the back of the finishing order handing the winner’s trophy to a grateful Aberle. Chad Wendell was third followed by Jerry Lepage, Jason Ryan and Roger Tanguay Sr. Aberle won the heat.

Outlaw Sportsmen

Outlaw-"Googles" Baldwin

George “Goggles” Baldwin started deep in the Outlaw Sportsman main and took to the outside groove and was in third by the time a caution flew at lap five. Kevin Kephart and Todd Warren led the field to the ensuring restart. Baldwin made quick work of Kephart and Warren and seemed to set sail and was looking like he would cruise to victory. Warren had other plans as he began to cut into Baldwin’s lead and soon was on his bumper trying to get a run underneath Baldwin. Warren had some good runs off the corners but couldn’t make a pass and had to settle for a fine second place finish. Kephart held on for third followed by Geoff Rollins and Dean Wendell. Baldwin and Kephart won the heats.

Roadrunners

Billy Osbourne won the Roadrunner feature pictured with his daughter Caillie

The Roadrunner main featured a great three car battle for many laps for the top spot. Dan Murphy, Jr. won his first Rookie Stock feature of the season on September 15th. Murphy has run just a few races this season but has run better every week he races. Murphy, Jr. started in the second to last row but quickly made his way forward. Ronnie Robinson was leading the field when Murphy, Jr. got to second place. Murphy, Jr. got a run off turn four to get underneath Robinson and contact was made between the two cars sending Robinson spinning to the infield and giving Murphy, Jr. the lead. A caution came out for Robinson. Murphy, Jr. was untouchable after the restart and led until the checkers flew. Chad Wendell was second followed by Roger Tanguay , Bob Riopelle, and Robinson.  Bobby Baillargeon picks up Hudson Hugger 100 victory

Kingston NH's Bobby Baillargeon led all but lap two on his way to his second consecutive Hudson Hugger win. Hudson's Derek Griffith and Baillargeon brought the 21 field car down to the green, and the pair raced wheel to wheel for the first few laps, swapping the lead back and forth, before Bobby was able to close the door for the top spot. Barry Gray, Jimmy Renfrew and Mike O'Sullivan rounded out the top five on the opening laps.

Larry Gelinas (48) and Jeremy Davis (09)

The first caution came out on the 21st circuit when Eric Sands spun in the fourth corner. Austin Brehio made slight contact, but went to the pits for repairs. It was three laps later when the second yellow flew when the points leader Jeremy Davis, Jake Vanada and Mike O'Sullivan got together in turn three.

Jeremy Davis spins in turn three

Once back under way, Baillargeon set sail at the top of the field, opening up a few car length advantage over Griffith, but the action behind the leaders was hot. Barry Gray continued to run third until just shy of the halfway point before starting to lose the handles. Frahm and Renfrew slid by n the 42nd lap.

At the halfway point, the top five remained the same, but the man on the move was Wayne Helliwell Jr. He started in the final starting position, and had moved into the top eight. By lap 75, the defending ACT champion moved into fifth. By this point, Frahm had closed in on the leader, and started to put heavy pressure on Baillargeon, almost getting underneath him before the caution came out on lap 79 when Tom O'Sullivan spun in turn two.

The field struggled to get through lap 79, with three restarts on that lap with a few spins on the restarts. Once through that, Griffith slid under Frahm for second, and was able to keep him behind. Heliwell fell out with mechanical problems and fell out on lap 84, moving Mike Parks and Jay Sands into the top five.

Bobby Baillargeon

Over the final laps, Griffith tried to keep up with the leader, but there was no denying Baillargeon on his second win.

Don Hayes Memorial Race

Don Hayes with his wife Doris on Sept 20, 1953

Billy Osbourne won the 11th annual Don Hayes Memorial race for Roadrunners at Hudson Speedway on August 11th. Osbourne had tried for years to win the Hayes Memorial and always had a contending car but never was able to put it all together until this year.

The race was in honor of Hudson’s longtime photographer and videographer Don Hayes who was associated with the speedway from its inaugural season in 1948 until 2001. Don was a passionate photographer and when he returned home from World War ll and he discovered the local midget and stock car racing scene that was in its infancy and was able to combine his new found racing passion with his photography vice and spent the next fifty four seasons photographing the local racers.

Don Hayes Photo Circa 1950's

The Hudson and Pines Speedways that Oscar Ridlon presided over was Don’s main scene although he did make many trips to other speedways that came and went in the 50’s and 60’s. Don picked the right track to devote most of his time to as other speedways opened and maybe flourished for a while before fading away, Hudson Speedway survived through it all. So now, sixty five years after Don walked through the speedways gates for the first time, we honor his memory with a Roadrunner race that attracts more drivers with each passing year.

Roadrunners

Roadrunner heat; Erica Page (01) on the low side while Bob Fields hangs on

The Roadrunner race was run in two twenty-five lap segments with the winner being determined by combining both finishes. Thirty-three cars took the green flag in the first segment. Seth Stickney was leading the first segment and looking like he was going to cross the finish line first when late in the race he had contact while passing a slower car and spun up the track bringing out a caution. Billy Osbourne took over the top spot from there and won segment one. Stickney made it back up to eighth place.

Roadrunner feature part 2; Charlie Baldwin headed for a second place finish in the 22 car

The top ten Roadrunners from segment one were inverted for the second segment so Osbourne started the second segment in tenth place. Osbourne moved up patiently during the first half of the segment and made it as far as third place where he would finish. His third place in the second segment along with his first place in the first segment gave Osbourne the victory. After Osbourne in the overall finish were Charlie Baldwin, Nick Dombroski, Seth Stickney, Jake Joslin, Josh Adie, Ricky, Fissette, Jen Lord, Erica Page and Mitch Bombard fill out the top ten.

With rain cutting short the previous week's racing at Hudson Speedway, double features were on tap in the Outlaw Sportsman, Rookie Stocks and Roadrunners divisions on August 4th.

Thunder Lights

The B&L Used Auto parts Thunder Lights feature was won by Kris Schroeder. The Thunder Lights were the only division to get their feature in on July 28th. For Schroeder it was his eighth win in thirteen races this season putting his win percentage at 61.5%. Max Dolliver scored a second place finish just as he had the previous week and Mikayla Lord also matched her finish from July 28th in third place. Max Chaput was fourth just as he was on July 28th. Don Sweeney broke the continuum by finishing fifth this week. Schroeder won the heat.

Roadrunners

The makeup feature for the Roadrunners was won by Jarrod Soucy. Jen Lord was second. Nick Dombroski had a fantastic run and finished third picking up his first Roadrunner podium finish since moving up from the B&L Used Auto Parts Thunder Lights after last season. Jake Joslin inched closer to the podium in fourth and Peter Raby surprised everyone with a top five run.

Roadrunner Feature #1-Jarrrod Soucy

The second Roadrunner feature was won by Jen Lord. Lord’s win was one of the most popular wins of the season as she got a big cheer from the Hudson faithful as she exited her car in victory lane. Lord has been the most consistent Roadrunner competitor this season always running near the front and finishing in the top five all year. Dombroski backed up his first podium finish earlier in the evening with a second place finish in the second feature. Kelly Cunningham was third. Jake Joslin and Peter Raby both matched their finish in the first feature by finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Outlaw Sportsman

Todd Warren picked up his second Outlaw Sportsman win of the season. Warren grabbed the lead early in the race and started to build on it but when Dean Wendell broke into second place his lead began shrinking and soon Wendell was all over Warrren’s bumper. Wendell tried high and low but couldn’t get a run to get passed Warren and had to settle for second. Steve Wilmet was third followed by Kevin Kephart and John Meany.

Outlaw Feature #1-Todd Warren

The second feature was a carbon copy of the first for Wendell. Kevin Kephart jumped out to the lead early in the running and started to drive away until Wendell got to second and chased him down. Wendell was in Kephart’s tire tracks the rest of the way, trying both top and bottom to get by Kephart but wasn’t able to find a way around him and drove under the checkers in second place again. After Kephart and Wendell it was Geoff Rollins and Warren.

Mother Nature won most of the features at Hudson International Speedway on July 28th. When heat races started there was a light drizzle falling from the skies. The rain remained light as the Thunder Lights took to the speedway for their feature event.

Thunder Lights

Kris Schroeder got back into victory lane for his seventh win in twelve races this season. Third generation driver Max Dolliver finished second followed by Mikayla Lord, Max Chaput and MiKayla Duval. The Thunder Light feature was the only feature that was able to be run.

The Rookie Stocks took to the speedway for their feature but rain began falling harder and the track was soon too wet to start the race. The Rookies were sent to the pits and the Spectator Races were begun in hopes of the rain stopping and track drying beginning.

Spectator Drags

Billy Clement Jr. and Scott Duval teamed up as pilot and co-pilot for the Spectator Races. Clement Jr. won the Spectator Drags with Duval in the passenger seat.

Spectator Race

Three drives picked their first wins of the season at Hudson Speedway on July 21st. Chris Jacobson, Dean Wendell and Heath Tourtellotte all scored their first wins of the 2013 racing season.

Rookie Stocks

Tourtellotte won the Rookie Stock main. The strong cars of Roger Tanquay, Scott Duval and Chad Wendell were all nose to tail right behind Tortellotte for most of the race waiting for a mistake by Tourtellotte but it wasn’t to be as Tourtellotte ran a smooth race and finished with Tanguay just a car length behind.  After Tanguay it was Duval, Wendell and Jerry Lepage in the top five finishing order. Duval won the heat.

Outlaw feature Dean Wendell (21), Chuck Dehney (33), Steve " Pinball " Wilmot(65)

Wendell won the Outlaw Sportsmen main. Wendell grabbed the lead early and wasn’t challenged as he stretched his lead with each lap. John Meany was having his best race of the year running in second for most of the first half of the race until contact with another car sent him spinning down the front stretch and bringing out a caution. Geoff Rollins ended up crossing the finish line in second followed by Kevin Kephart, Todd Warren and “Pinball”. Wendell won the heat.

Roadrunners

Roadrunner heat; saw Jarrod Soucy going three wide on the high side in a spirited battle for the lead.

Chris Jacobson won the Roadrunner feature. Jacobson looked like he was cruising to victory when a caution came out nearing the end of the race. Jarrod Soucy was running second before the caution and wasn’t making up any ground but after the green flag flew for the restart Soucy took to the high groove and ran side by side for a few laps until he fell in right behind Jacobson . Soucy was on his bumper the rest of the race. When the white flag flew Soucy was just a few feet behind Jacobson. As the duo ran down the back straight they were quickly catching a slower car. They caught the slower car in turns three and four with Jacobson taking the high line around the car and Soucy went under the slower car. Soucy was slowed up going low as Jacobson flashed beneath the checkered flag. Soucy was second. Jen Lord and Nick Dombroski had their weekly battle for third. Lord managed another podium finish while Dombroski inched closer to the top three. As usual Jake Joslin finished fifth. Soucy won the heat.

Mckayla Lord won the B&L Used Auto Parts Thunder Lights. Jarrett Howard was leading the first half but was being chased down by Kris Schroeder. Schroeder caught Howard going into turn three just as Howard came up on a slower car and contact was made between the cars sending the slower car up the track pushing Schroeder off the track and almost into the wall. The slower car then couldn’t get slowed down and went into the wooded area off turn four bringing out a caution. When racing resumed Mckayla Lord took the lead from Howard while Schroeder began his march back towards the front. Schroeder made it back to third and was gaining ground on the front two but ran out of laps and had to settle for third behind Howard. Mikayla Duval was fourth and Max Chaput was fifth. Howard won the heat.

Roadrunners

Jarrod Soucy won his fourth Roadrunner feature race of 2013 at Hudson Speedway on July 14th. The race had a rough start for the feature winner. Soucy started in the last row and passed a few cars before the first turn. Soucy was passing a car on the low side coming off turn two when Soucy’s rear quarter made contact with the other car and it turned Soucy straight up the track in front of a pack of cars. Soucy took a hard hit to his passenger side door from Billy Osbourne. Jake Joslin had nowhere to go and rammed into the rear of Osbourne lifting both of Joslin’s front wheels off the ground .A caution flag flew and all three cars drove away and pitted for repairs and returned to racing. When the green dropped Soucy again began slicing through traffic. It wasn’t long before Soucy was leading. Osbourne made his way up to second but wasn’t able to catch Soucy. Osbourne finished second. Jen Lord finished third which is her ninth top five in ten races this season. Joslin, like Soucy and Osbourne, made a remarkable recovery from the first lap wreck to finish fifth.

Roadrunner Feature Winner Jarrod Soucy

Rookie Stocks

Two time Rookie Stock champion Scott Duval took the checkers in the Rookie main event. Duval started fourth and quickly made his way to the point. Roger Tanguay started right behind Duval in the sixth starting spot and soon was in second place behind Duval. Duval had a five car-length lead over Tanguay at the midway point and held that lead for the rest of the race. Tanguay finished second. There was a great battle for third place between the four cars of Jason Ryan, Chad Wendell, Heath Tourtellotte and last week’s winner Anthony Belfiore. The four battled and swapped positions a few times before the dust settled. Belfiore dropped out of the race in the closing laps. Jason Ryan won the battle and finished third. Wendell was fourth. Tourtellotte was fifth.

Rookie Stock Feature Winner Scott Duval with his wife Bianca

Thunder Lights

Kris Shroeder won his sixth Thunder Light main of 2013. Shroeder started in the second to last row and moved up quickly. Jarrett Howard was doing a fine job leading but wasn’t any match for Schroeder. Just past the halfway mark Schroeder caught Howard and took to the outside groove. Schroeder and Howard ran side by side for a lap before Schroeder got by Howard. Howard got loose coming off turn two with two laps to go, Mckayla Lord was close enough to Howard and got by him to finish second. Howard was third, Max Chaput fourth and Mikayla Duval was fifth.

Mike O’Sullivan of Springfield, MA, made his first ever visit to Hudson (NH) Speedway a memorable one as he won the Granite State Pro Stock Series sanctioned ‘Gate City Classic 100’ Sunday night, July 7.  O’Sullivan started fourth in an 18-car field and moved to the front at the beginning of lap 44 when he passed Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, NH.  Davis set a torrid pace after passing early leader Barry Gray on lap seven. For a period, Davis looked like the car to beat leading for 35 laps until O’Sullivan made his race-winning pass.

Buxton, ME, veteran Larry Gelinas, making his first ever start at the famed Hudson oval, drove a steady race and tried to use a lapped car to his advantage on the final lap when he almost pulled alongside O’Sullivan in a race to the checkered flag.

Matt Frahm, of North Salem, NH, already a two-time winner this season, finished a strong third. Davis settled for fourth, and Tommy O’Sullivan, of Wilbraham, MA, rounded out the top five.  Sixth through tenth were, Jay Sands, Craig Weinstein, Gray, Jake Vanada, and Phil Meaney.

Only three caution flags were displayed for minor incidents on laps, 7, 18, and 53.

Roadrunners

The Roadrunner feature was won by Seth Stickney. Billy Osbourne was second. Jarrod Soucy was involved in a first lap incident that saw him go airborne but recovered to garner the third spot. Jen Lord had contact with another car late in the race and cut a tire. Lord caught a timely caution and pitted to change the tire and charged back up through the field to finish fourth. “Hollywood” Heliwell was running second when contact between him and another car on a restart sent Heliwell bouncing off other cars and landed in the infield with a few of the other cars he hit on his way into the infield. Heliwell made a quick pit stop and made his way back up to fifth. Nick Dombroski was sixth. Meegan Lord was involved in the first lap skirmish with Soucy and spun and then late in the race was spun by another car and came back to finish seventh.

Rookie Stocks

Anthony Belfiore made a rare appearance at Hudson Speedway in the Rookie Stocks but made the most of it. Belfiore started third and was leading soon after the drop of the green. Belfiore was on rails as he increased his lead each lap. With Belfiore checking out the battle on the track was a three way affair with Roger Tanguay, Chad Wendell and Scott Duval running bumper to bumper to bumper. Tanguay led the trio followed by Wendell and Duval. The battle lasted much of the race with plenty of incidental bumping and banging that comes with close short track racing. Tanguay eventually was passed by both Wendell and Duval but got back by Duval in the last corner of the last lap. Belfiore was first followed by Wendell, Tanguay, Duval and Heath Tourtellotte.

Roadrunners

Roadrunner (black and orange 22) Seth Stickney's mad dash ended when he had a rear tire problem

Bill Osbourne picked up a well-deserved win in the Roadrunner main. Nick Dombroski led the first lap of the feature but all eyes were on Seth Stickney as he made a mad dash from the last row and passed ten cars in the first two laps. A caution at lap 3 bunched the field for a restart but Stickney had a rear tire break away from his car and his night was over. Another caution flew for Stickneys tire problem. When racing resumed Jarrod Soucy soon had the lead but his night was over a few laps later when his transmission failed. With Soucy out of the race the lead was picked up by Charlie Baldwin. Baldwin led a train of three with Osbourne in second and Dave Heliwell in third. The front trio ran that way for most of the last half of the race. Baldwin was still leading the trio coming off the last corner of the last lap and with the checkers in sight. Baldwin went high to pass a slower car and Osbourne went low and Osbourne beat Baldwinto the finish line by a just a few feet. Baldwin was second and Heliwell was third. Jen Lord was fourth and Dombrowski was fifth. Jenna Pitkin and Heliwell won the heats.

Outlaw Sportsmen

Kevin Kephart won his second Outlaw Sportsman feature of the season on June 23rd. John Meany led the field to the green and led the first lap. Dean Wendell grabbed the top spot from Meany going into turn one on the second lap. Wendell was holding a big lead until a caution at the mid-race point which bunched the field for a restart. Wendell had a tire going soft and on the restart dropped back through the field until another caution flew and Wendell was able to pit and change the tire. Kephart had taken over the lead when Wendell had his problems and had Jay Sands all over his bumper just waiting for an opening to pass.

Sands was at Hudson prepping his car for the big Granite State Pro-Stock Gate City 100 scheduled for July 7th at Hudson. Rookie Stocks

Roger Tanguay Sr. won his second Rookie Stock main of the season at Hudson Speedway on June 2nd. Jason Ryan took off from his front row starting spot and started to build a large lead over the rest of the field. Tanguay was on the move from his last row starting spot at the drop of the green and methodically sliced his way through the field. Tanguay passed two-time Rookie Stock Champ Scotty Duval for second place at the halfway point and set his sights on Ryan. Tanguay reeled in "Flyin" Ryan and went on for the win moving him to the top of the points standings. Duval made a strong late race charge to nudge past Ryan for the runner up spot.  Ryan hung on for a hard earned third with Mike McHugh, who traveled all the way from North Carolina to race at his favorite track, finishing fourth and defending Champion Jerry Lepage rounding out the top five. Tanguay and McHugh won the heats.

Thunder Lights

Kris Shroeder won his second Thunder Light feature of the season and his fourth podium finish in as many races. Max Chaput started on the pole and led the first lap. Mckayla Lord got past Chaput as did Schroeder on the second lap. Lord and Schroeder made contact in turn one slowing the momentum of both racers and Chaput took to the high side  to retake the lead. Schroeder ended up second after his contact with Lord and began to chase down Chaput who had built a huge lead. Chaput’s car developed an evil push off the corners and Schroeder cut into Chaputs lead with every lap run. Schroeder passed Chaput after the halfway mark and went on for the win. Lord also got by the ailing Chaput to finish second and Chaput was third. Schroeder won the heat.

Wayne Brooks finished fourth, Billy Mattatall fifth and "Old Greybeard" Lenny Johnson sixth.

Dwarf Cars

Adam Giacomozzi led the first half of the caution free Dwarf Car Open 30 lap feature from his pole position starting spot. Dennis O’Brien made a steady, methodical charge through traffic from his seventh position starting spot to pass Giacomozzi and take over the point. Giacomozzi challenged to the end but O'Brien was on a mission after working late Saturday night and all Sunday morning, making numerous changes to finally get his car dialed in. Billy Osbourne was third, Duane Skofield fourth and Dan Poloquin rounded out the top five.

A late race caution bunched the field with Bill Osbourne in first and Soucy in second and Lord in third. After the green flag came back out the top three ran that way until the checkers fell. Rookie Stocks

Chad Wendell took control of the Rookie Stock main in the early going. Anthony Belfiore was on rails and grabbed the lead from Wendell before the halfway mark of the race. Thunder Lights - Max Chaput with his dad Keith

Outlaw Sportsmen

Todd Warren won his first Outlaw Sportsmen feature of the season. Warren’s car had a pure evil push in the corners at times last year but he made the right changes over the winter and his car is on rails this season. Warren scored his third podium finish in as many Outlaw features in 2013. Kevin Kephardt finished second with his rear sheet metal and tubing all bent up from a first lap melee that included half the field. Steve Wilmot was third. Dean Wendell made a nice recovery from the first lap melee that had him backwards with the field on top of him to finish fourth. Ben “You’ve tried the rest, now race with the best” Bosowski was fifth. Wendell won the heat.

Rookie Stocks

Chad Wendell showed the Rookie Stocks the way in the first half of the Rookie feature. Roger Tanguay Sr. was running second right on Wendell’s bumper. Jerry Lepage was running third behind Tanguay. Lepage made a few runs to the outside of Tanguay but looked like he was on a slip and slide when he got to the corners and couldn’t make it past Tanguay. Meanwhile Tanguay got sick of riding in Wendell’s tire tracks and put his car to the outside of Wendell going into turn three and blasted off turn four to clearly have the lead by the start/finish line. Lepage got under Wendell and finished second. Scotty Duval had a strong third place run. Jason Ryan battled to finish fourth and Wendell slid back to fifth. Ryan won the heat.

Soucy was filling in for his son who couldn’t make the race. Soucy was racing for the first time in four years and had a great second place finish. Jen Lord spun on the first lap and a caution flew for her. She restarted in the rear and ran a great race picking off cars one by one until she got to third and picked up her third podium finish of the season. Cunningham also ran a great race and finished fourth. 2012 Thunder Light graduate Nick Dombroski had his first top five finish with his fifth place run.
