PET SOUP KITCHEN

A Program of SOS Club

Non Profit - 501(c)3  Tax Exempt Organization

FOUNDER INJURED IN ACCIDENT

Tom Wargo, the founder of Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen and SOS Club was injured while working at this charity.  He was getting supplies for some work he was doing at our warehouse to get ready for our big fund raiser/open house event. Due to Tom's unexpected injuries, our fund raiser/open house was not a big success. We want to thank all of our volunteers and supporters that did attend, and we want to let everyone know that we will be having another open house in the near future.  He is going to his surgeon on Monday to find out exactly how bad things are and how long he will be disabled.  It appears he has separated his bi-cep muscle and his tendon in his right arm.   Tom is a self employed contractor, but dedicates most of his time and money to keeping this charity going.  As of Thursday, Nov. 12, Tom is unable to work his own job, which helps finance this charity as well as supports his family.  Without extra financial support and some volunteers, this charity may be in trouble.  Tom's main concern is that he won't let all his customers down.  He is the backbone of this organization.  He is hands on with every aspect of the charity.  He drives the truck to pick up food, to unloading it at the warehouse, to handing it out, and to delivering food to people in need.  Besides the pet soup kitchen, he is our main experienced TNR cat trapper.  He also does all the remodeling and repairs at the warehouse.  He has volunteers who help him with most of what gets done, but he's always there, hands on.  We just signed our new lease and we are dedicated to keeping our doors open and our services available.  Food distribution is at an all time high with handing out close to 485,000 pounds of food since September, 2008.  Please help us through these hard times and keep Tom and his mission in your thoughts and prayers.  We are hoping for a speedy recovery for everyone's sake.  Please contact us for updates or if you are available to assist us.  Thank you all for all the continued and future support.  We hope you will become a monthly supporter.  We look forward to serving you and your community in the future.

FLOOD UPDATE

Weeks after the flood and still all animals are not at home, but glad to say that most of our fosters have been reunited with their families or found new homes for those who had to give their pets up to better homes due to a bad situation.  We want to thank all the groups and individuals who helped us with our disaster relief program, the Daffy's PAST Program,  that helped rescue over 100 animals, foster, feed, and help with some vetting as well.  It takes great people to volunteer and great people to donate to make these things happen.  Thank you for all your help and your continued support.

PLEASE DO NOT ABANDON YOUR ANIMALS

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL CONTROL AND YOUR LOCAL E.M.A. FOR ASSISTANCE.  BEFORE TURNING YOUR ANIMAL IN, MAKE SURE WHO IS WILLING TO HOLD YOUR PET FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.  WE ARE IN THE AREA HELPING OUT WITH FOOD AND ASSISTANCE, BUT THE MORE PEOPLE THAT LET THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT KNOW OF THE SITUATION WITH PETS, THE MORE ASSISTANCE WE / YOU CAN GET.  WE KNOW THE SITUATION IS GREATER THAN WHAT IS KNOWN BY THE LOCAL AGENCIES.  PLEASE LET THEM KNOW OF THE SITUATION AS FAR AS PET FOOD AND SHELTER NEEDED FOR PETS OF FLOOD VICTIMS.  PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE THIS ASSISTANCE, WE ARE HERE TO HELP THOSE IN NEED.  OUR RESOURCES ARE DEPLETING FAST.  WE ARE NOT GOVERNMENT FUNDED.  WE ARE FUNDED BY DONATIONS ONLY.  DONATE IF YOU CAN

Daffy's is feeding pets from the flood and offering pet food assistance to those displaced by the flood.  We are a member of  (HAGA), Humane Association of Georgia, a member of GaVOAD, Georgia Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters.  We are working with local and federal governments to help resolve issues pertaining to the flooding and their victims.  We are working with these groups to help coordinate the food for these animals along with the sheltering issues.  We have visited/ talked with Gwinnett, Cobb, Douglas, Dekalb, Paulding, Chattooga, and Carrol Counties and have had discussions with them at some time about these issues.  The main concern is yet to come as far as keeping families and their pets together, our motto.  We need donations of pet food, pet supplies, crates, gas cards, and financial donations are needed. Please donate food and supplies at any of our locations.  If you are donating pet food or supplies in bulk, please contact Tom Wargo @ thesosclubofga@yahoo.com for more information.  These animals have no idea whats going on, and the last thing they and their families need right now is to be separated.  Please help us keep these families together.  Our food and financial situation is diminishing quickly and we need support.  Please help out and donate on line or drop food at any of our sites.  If you are interested in possible animal fostering, please let us know that as well.  We need your help.  We have depleted a lot of our finances we had for our rent on our new lease we have this month, October.  Please help us help others and help us rebuild our lease fund to keep our warehouse and keep up the good work.  Thank you for your support.

Daffys PAST
Pet Assistance Service Team
Introducing our new trailer and programs.

Bringing Hopeless Pets a Better Future

Due to the floods in Georgia, mainly Cobb and Douglas county areas, we are out in these counties assisting our clients and finding new ones that have been affected by this natural disaster. We are in contact with the animal controls and rescues to assist these people in need with their pets. Please contact us if you could be of any assistance through pet supplies, volunteers, or financial contribution. Keep checking in for updates on our progress. If you are in need, please contact us so we can help.

Daffys Pet Assistance Service Team Trailer

This trailer will enable us to transport up to 6000 + lbs of food at one time to rescues and animal controls in need across Georgia.  We have been assisting rescues and animal controls on a special needs basis while our main goal is helping families with pet food and supplies to keep their pets out of the rescues and animal controls.  Daffys Pet Soup Kitchen supplies over 20,000 to 40,000 pounds of pet food and supplies to families across Georgia every month to help keep these pets healthy and at home where they belong.  We can achieve this amount of food through our different distribution locations across Georgia and locations across the country.

Our new program this year, now with the improved help of this trailer, is to continue to serve the animal controls and rescues but with the ability to deliver more food to more pets in need.  We are working with the Georgia Department of Agriculture to assist these organizations in a more timely manner and have better communication with the different areas of the state we may not be in contact with.

Our fight to help keep pets alive and our fight against the worthless euthanasia of animals due to the lack of food, supplies, and basic education is an ongoing process.  We need assistance to help create a solution.  We are working with the animal controls on a program to where people adopting a pet can receive a free bag of pet food from us to help offset their adoption costs.  We are also working with discount spay /neuter clinics on our "Fixin for Food" program in which people bringing their pets in for spay/neuter can receive a voucher to come to us for a free bag of food to help offset the cost of the surgery.

Our goal is not only to keep the pets at home and keep them healthy, but to reduce the overpopulation of unwanted pets and assist in the care of the hopeless pets in need at our rescues and animal controls.

Its also about our customers giving back to their community by donating 5 hours per month in return for the food they receive.  We are providing a lot of food and a lot of volunteer hours back into our community every month.  Thank you to the people who support us and thank you to the people who "Pay it Forward" back into their community.

I wanted to thank you, our loyal followers and supporters.  We depend on you to keep us going.  WE DON'T RECEIVE GRANTS OR GOVERNMENT FUNDING.  OUR FUNDING COMES FROM YOU.  You help us feed pets across the country.  With out you, there would be no Daffy's.  We thank you, and all of our pets thank you, for what you do.

Thank you for your continued support,

  Tom Wargo

We are about keeping families and their pets together.   Pets end up in a rescue or pound or let loose when people can't afford to care for them.  How hard would it be to give up your pet?  How hard would it be to not be able to feed your pet?  There are people like that out there that need your help.
